Intralase
The IntraLase®Femtosecond LASER has taken laser vision correction to new peaks in terms of accuracy and safety. Our San Diego Blade-Free LASIK eye surgeonsuse the IntraLASIK Femtosecond LASER to create a corneal flap thereby eliminating the need for a metal blade called a microkeratome. The creation of the LASIK flap with IntraLase is usually quick and painless and does not require the use of any sharp metal instruments.
The Food and Drug Administration approved Laser vision correction using the IntraLase® laser in 2001. The IntraLase has been used on more than 250,000 eyes since 2001. Ophthalmic surgeons have refined the use of the All-Laser LASIK over the last ten years and have adjusted their technique to take full advantage of the technology and minimize complications.
IntraLase® Corneal Flap Creation
The IntraLase®laser uses pulses of femtosecont laser to selectively break intracellular bonds and create a tissue plane in the cornea with unprecedented accuracy. Our San Diego All-Laser LASIK eye surgeons create a computer-guided Intralase® laser flap that fits precisely within the corneal bed thus maximizing its stability after the procedure.
iFS
The iFS™ Intralase is the latest advance in the creation of all laser corneal flaps. It creates corneal flaps with more efficiency. It can create inverted bevel-in side cuts on the corneal flap which enhances stability of the flap. It can be used to create elliptical flaps which enhances surgical options. It also moves the hinge of the flap more peripherally on the cornea allowing for a larger diameter of corneal ablation with the Star S4 Laser.
You will soon be able to contact us at the San Diego Laser-Vision Eye Center for a San Diego blade-free LASIK consultation. In the meantime, please be patient as this website is still under construction and feel free to use is as an accurate, up-to-date source for eye-care information.
