ReSTOR® Lens

What is the ReSTOR® lens?
The ReSTOR®IOL is a multifocal intraocular lens used to replace the natural lens of the eye after cataract surgery. The ReSTOR multifocal intraocular lens is designed to provide vision without glasses in the distance and near after cataract surgery.
How is ReSTOR® different from traditional lenses used for cataract surgery?
The ReSTOR®lens fits the lifestyle of individuals who want to have the ability to perform their daily activities with less dependence on glasses after having their cataract surgery. Traditional lenses are mon-focal, which means they only focus light from one distance. With the traditional lenses, usually patients need glasses to see the distance, near, or both.
How does the ReSTOR® Lens focus light from different distances?
The ReSTOR® lens is divided into two main areas: an outer ring that focuses light for distance vision, and also series of rings in the center of the lens that focus light for near vision. Together, these areas provide you multiple focal points that allow some light to be focused from the distance and some from the near objects.
How is the new ReSTOR® lens different from the original ReSTOR®?
The new ReSTOR® has been adjusted to provide better intermediate vision compared to the previous design.
Does ReSTOR® have any side effects?
Some patients may experience glare and halos after having the placement of the ReSTOR® lens. As with any surgery, there are some risks associated with having the ReSTOR® cataract surgery. Please be sure to fully discuss all risks, benefits, and alternatives with your surgeon prior to scheduling your surgery.
